The Carpathians Mountains of western Ukraine is a truly unigue area. Although the peaks are not very high, the mountains range rolls through the area at a consistent elevation, creating spectacular views. Despite a few areas, the Carpathian Mountains are mainly rural, containing bountiful amounts of plant life, fresh fruit and waterfalls from mountain streams.

The mountains are so unique due to the people that inhabit them. If you are lucky enough to be invited into a home, you will find many crafts and music that is deeply integrated into their culuture. Many people still wear garments that symbolize their history and the food you will eat will be fresh from local gardens. While Ukrainian dominates as the local lanugage, the older population knows Polish and the youth understand English. Their language also includes a strong “Gutsul” dialect.
